Rail official promoted
Mr Ian MacBean, district traffic inspector of British Railways at Aviemore since March 1949, has been promoted yardmaster at Inverness.
Starting his railway career as a clerk at Dunphail in 1921, Mr MacBean afterwards held posts at Forres and Blair Atholl before being attached to the district relief staff at Perth. In July 1934 he was appointed stationmaster at Longforgan, and to Dalmally in a similar capacity in May 1942.
Mr MacBean is a son of Mr James MacBean, former stationmaster at Glencarse, and now resident in Errol.
